Best Books To Read is a brief summary of my favorite books until now.

“There Is No Friend As Loyal As A Book” – Ernest Hemingway

Please don’t expect a professional book review. I am no bookworm neither have I read too many books.

Till my school days, I read books out of compulsion and fear. Compulsion because my Father is Big Boss(He never asks he tells).Fear because my classroom was Mirzapur were teachers were highly expressive with Duster, Slap, and Stick.

In college I had two options books or friends, I chose later, and then for the next four years, books came into my path one night before the exam like a politician before the election.

My fluent communication skills during job impressed one of my dear friends so much that he suggested me to read novels and follow Shashi Tharoor.

I did Both. My love for reading started with the Ruskin bond and then there was no looking back. I don’t exactly know different things books have taught me but it has surely given me joy and a different perspective to look at things.

I can take guarantee that the books I am mentioning below are really worth reading.

1>Animal Farm

Animal Farm is a novel by George Orwell. I feel emotionally attached to him maybe because he was born in the same state where I was born. I understood this book two days after I finished this book. At once it seems nothing more than a children’s book, but its like scotch hangover. It stays with you for several days.

I was so obsessed with this book that I started comparing people in real life with the book’s character. I started calling people BOXER, BENJAMIN, NAPOLEON, etc. Its a story of Revolution, Love, Hope, Pessimism, Optimism, Hypocracy, etc.Its a mirror reflecting many worlds.

2>Rashmirathi

Rashmirathi is a Hindi epic written in 1952, by the Hindi poet Ramdhari Singh ‘Dinkar’.I couldn’t stop once I started reading. It takes you on a journey of Mahabharata. It tells how Karna is a hero, not a villain. Dinkar has encapsulated all emotions love, friendship, loyalty into his simple and flawless words.

3>Nineteen Eighty-Four

Another favorite from Orwell. It takes you to a place where everything is watched. The totalitarian, bureaucratic world did scare me. To be honest, It was suffocating, how could anyone leave in such a place but Orwell always leaves a sense of optimism. State attempt to take away your individuality is countered by one poor stiff’s attempt to find individuality.

4>The Alchemist

“कहते है अगर किसी चीज को दिल से चाहो तो पूरी कायनात उसे तुमसे मिलाने की कोशिश में लग जाती है” is actually copied from this book. The storytelling hooks you until you complete the book. The story of an ordinary boy takes you more close to faith, hope, spirituality, and destiny. The book shows that the journey to your destiny is as important as the destination itself.

5>Short Stories Ruskin Bond

It was Ruskin bond who gave me that feeling, reading is actually fun. Ruskin bond is like love at first read. When I read Ruskin bond I feel like living the book. Simple, elegant language does not compel you to open a dictionary after every 10 lines. It takes you to the mountains without being in the mountains, it rewinds your childhood, It reminds you of your journey, its a nostalgia. You not only read the story you become part of it.

6>The Great Gatsby

Do read this book before watching the movie by Leonardo Dicaprio, Both are good. Its an unconditional love story where the lover goes great extent to reclaim her love.

7>Siddhartha(An Indian Tale)

It’s a philosophical and realistic journey. Every path you take in your life teaches you something or other. The book is filled with so many beautiful quotes and lessons. This book makes you more closer to yourself.

Few of my favourite phrases from books are:-

“Writing is good, thinking is better. Being smart is good, Being patient is better”.

This is a Stone, and will, after a certain time, perhaps turn into soil, and will turn from soil into a plant or animal or human being. In the past, I would Have said stone is just a stone, it is worthless.

8>A Brief History Of Time

What is the time? eventual fate of the Universe? what is space? Big bang?Black holes?

Want to know the answers, read this exciting and popular science book on cosmology by Stephen Hawking. don’t stop when you do not understand any topic just keep on reading.

9>India’s Struggle for Independence

India’s struggle for Independence by Bipin Chandra is your go-to book for an in-depth and detailed overview of the Indian independence movement. It talks about different stages of the freedom struggle. How India was welded into a nation, What freedom fighter fought for, how the Indian economy was ruined by British policies. The authors take the reader through every step of the independence struggle from the abortive Revolt of 1857 to the final victory of 1947.

The author does not only tells you the fact but a detailed analysis of several important events and decisions.

I did find the author somehow justifying all decisions of Mahatma Gandhi and Nehru but overall it’s a brilliant read.

10>To Kill a Mockingbird

When I started reading this novel I thought its a scary ghost story, later I understood its a story of justice, morality, racism, and inequality which persist in our society. Its a story of a man who stands with his morality under adverse situations.

So there is my list of favorite Books To Read. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

Let me know in the comments section.
